YES! Authenticity is freeing and makes you lighter. I learned that by telling people how I really was when I became a widow instead of pretending I was ok all of the time just so they could feel ok. I’m not responsible for how they feel and their mental health. I needed to regain mine.
Another authentic lifestyle change - I’m no longer shrinking to accommodate the political conversation avoidance of my Christian white friends. I’m letting them know where I stand and that silence is capitulation and condoning the oppressors.
And Girl, I love the last part of your sign off — “have the day you voted for”
You’ll get a chuckle out of this… Tonight, a friend told me how things were not going the way she wanted them to in her home life. I have been telling her for the last 3 years changes she needed to make to avoid where she is now (only when she asked my opinion) and each time she had excuses as to why she could not take the suggested actions. As I found myself looking away while she spoke, I also caught myself saying “you’re living the life you voted for” in my head. You started something. It just might slip out of my mouth next time. 🫣😎
Love this and authenticity is my strap line helping women and as an artist. 100 agree with you on Black women being unable to express their authenticity. We have to decondition ourselves to keep rewriting the narrative.
I’m from London and be sure to go to Brixton lots of great Caribbean shops.

I will! I remember seeing a show in Brixton, Maxwell I think! I dream of an IRL meetup with my podcast listeners in 2026.
Yes! If you are in London come and visit us skaters in Hyde Park
I used to live very close to Hyde Park on Palace Court. There’s a skate park?
Not a skate park but skaters there every Sunday since the 80s a bit like Central Park skating.
Heavy on ...my teeth are white and my breath is fresher! Authenticity is everything.
I’m glad you liked that! All this truth telling and daring to be our true selves is good for us 😊
